Milford police received a report of a man encouraging a child to get in his van.
The Milford Police Department is seeking information about a man that allegedly encouraged a child to get in his van.
Around 7:15 a.m. on Friday, March 6, a man driving of a dark red or maroon work-style van, possibly a Ford Econoline, attempted to communicate with a student walking to school in the area of North Street and Northwest 2nd Street. The driver made comments to the student that led the student to believe he was encouraging them to get in the van. The student was alarmed and ran away, eventually making it home and notifying a parent. The parent immediately notified police.
Officers and school staff searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. Police also patrolled schools in other areas of the city.
The driver has been described as a white male with black hair, wearing black clothing.
The Milford Police Department is urging anyone in the area to check any outside camera they may have on their property to report any findings. Anyone with information about this incident can call 302-422-8081 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333. Tips can also be submitted online at MilfordPoliceDE.org/TIPS.
