Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and the Milton Chamber of Commerce will host the 16th annual Horseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 25 at Milton Memorial Park, Chandler Street; and Prime Hook NWR, 11978 Turkle Pond Road, Milton.
The festival celebrates horseshoe crabs, shorebirds and other natural resources while encouraging citizen awareness and participation in wildlife-dependent recreation.
Each location will offer choices from art to science and nature education. Milton Municipal Park will have exhibits from environmental organizations, vendors, crafts, food and entertainment. Prime Hook NWR will feature opportunities for visitors to get outside and connect with nature, including hikes, a kayak trip, videos, a horseshoe crab touch tank, touch-and-see equipment utilized for habitat conservation and special guests from the Brandywine Zoo.
