Michael Dennis was found carrying about $3,500 in suspected drug money
A Felton man, identified as Michael Dennis, 38, whom police say was speeding, has been charged with drug offenses following a traffic stop.
Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said the incident took place at about 12:21 a.m. Monday, April 22 on the John J. Williams Highway in the area of Maryland Camp Road, Millsboro.
As troopers tried to get the driver of the GMC Yukon to stop, they spotted him throwing several objects out the window. The driver eventually stopped in the parking lot of the Mountaire Farms on the Williams Highway.
Troopers conducted a DUI investigation and the driver was taken into custody.
Troopers also recovered items believed to have been thrown from the vehicle, which included 2.62 grams of cocaine. Dennis also was found in possession of $3,500 in suspected drug money.
Dennis is charged with disregarding a police officer’s signal, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, speeding and other traffic offenses.
He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of a $4,353 secured bond.
