Was attempting to cross Route 13

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in Delmar.

According to police, the incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, as a 2018 Honda Accord, driven by 45-year-old Seaford man, was traveling northbound on Sussex Highway (Route 13), north of Line Road. At the same, time, 33-year-old Brandon W. Kennedy, of Delmar, was attempting to cross Sussex Highway on foot. There were no crosswalks in the area, and Kennedy was wearing dark clothing and was not carrying a light. Police said Kennedy proceeded directly into the path of the Honda and was struck and killed.

The driver of the Honda was properly restrained and was not injured. Impairment was not a factor on his behalf.

The northbound lanes of Route 13 were closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
