Applicants are being sought for an enhanced certified nursing assistant program through Sussex Tech Adult Education, and grant funds are available for qualified applicants through the Delaware Blue Collar Grant.

The Enhanced Certified Nursing Assistant program prepares students for various jobs in different health care setting including hospitals, nursing homes, doctor’s offices and clinics.

The training program will run from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with 75 hours of classroom and lab training at Sussex Tech, 17099 County Seat Highway, Georgetown; 72 hours of enhanced training in phlebotomy, EKG and dementia care; and an additional 75 hours of clinical training at a local healthcare facility. The training will prepare students for the state certification exam to become a certified nursing assistant, or CNA.

Advanced CNA classes begin Jan. 7, 2019, and basic classes begin Jan. 22, 2019.
