The DE Turf Sports Complex announced, on Oct. 15, the launch of a new youth lacrosse program.

The Bucks Lacrosse Program will feature opportunities for youth in grades K-8 to experience lacrosse.

Bucks Lacrosse is an instructional/travel program that will replace Milford Youth Lacrosse Association in the Eastern Shore Youth Lacrosse Association League. Practices will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at the DE Turf Sports Complex, 4000 Bay Road, Frederica. Games will be Saturdays. The program will run March through May.

“Growing participation in youth sports and creating opportunities for youth to play, learn, grow and compete in Kent County is one of our key missions,” said DE Turf Executive Director Chris Giacomucci. “We have been offering lacrosse clinic programs for over a year and to now be at a point where we can offer a plethora of affordable, high quality youth lacrosse programming through the Bucks on pristine turf fields is extremely exciting. We want all youth in Kent County to have an opportunity to play at DE Turf.”

A feature of the program is that every team will be coached by a certified lacrosse coach with college playing and coaching experiences. A girls program is currently in development and will be announced at a later date.

“I have been fortunate to coach and play the sport of lacrosse for many years,” said Coach Don Christie. “To provide opportunities to teach the sport at a first class facility like DE Turf is a unique opportunity for our youth in the area and will serve as a great platform to grow the sport of lacrosse in central Delaware. Similar to the other DE Turf programming, parents should expect a highly organized product with a strong focus on development and having fun.”

Registration will open Jan. 1, 2019.
