The state Fire Marshall's office says because of the fire's "criminal nature," it will not provide further details about the fire caused $3 million in damage.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office has arrested a Seaford Juvenile for arson which occurred at the Seaford Family Dollar store on August 27.

The fire, reported at 5:07 p.m., went to several alarms, bringing multiple agencies to the scene.

The fire totally destroyed the building and contents. Estimated damage is listed at $3 million. The investigation determined the fire to be the result of arson and follow up lead to the arrest of the 16-year-old juvenile. The juvenile was arrested Wednesday for one count of arson 1st, felony, and four counts of reckless endangering 1st, felony. He was taken to family court and released to his parent on $14,000 unsecured bond. The investigation continues and other charges may result.

The Seaford Volunteer Fire Company was assisted by Blades, Bridgeville, Georgetown, Milton, Greenwood Laurel, Delmar and three neighboring fire companies from Maryland. One store employee was treated and released for minor smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
