The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that took place on I-95 in Wilmington Friday night.
The incident happened at about 9:55 p.m., on I-95 northbound near West 2nd Street.
Eric K. Williams, 32, of Newark, was driving a 2008 Kawasaki ZX1, traveling in a group of three motorcycles northbound on the ramp from MLK Jr. Boulevard to continue on I-95 northbound.
As Williams approached a curved portion of the ramp, his motorcycle struck a piece of metal debris in the road, which caused him to lose control of the steering. The motorcycle then struck a concrete barrier. Williams was thrown over the concrete barrier, falling about 35 feet to the ground below.
Williams was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash and fall, police said.
