Cyclist was on Route 13. The victim is identified as William O. Boyer, 28.
Delaware State Police are looking for the driver of a white SUV involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash.
The incident took place between 3:15 and 3:44 a.m. Saturday, on US Route 13 south of Plymouth Road, north of Felton, division spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.
The victim later was identified as William O. Boyer, 28, of Felton.
The police investigation showed Boyer was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of Route 13, headed south when the SUV hit the bike’s rear wheel. The vehicle continued south without stopping, Bratz said.
Boyer was thrown off the bicycle and onto the western edge of the road shoulder.
Police hope to identify the vehicle through a piece of bumper left at the scene, Bratz said.
Boyer was not wearing a helmet, although he did have a light on the brim of his hat and was wearing a red Polo shirt with high visibility lime safety straps.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision was reported by a passing motorist, and there are no known witnesses at the time.
