Jesse A. Nichols was arrested June 21 at his stepfather's house.

Troopers with the Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man on burglary charges.

Division spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe identified the man as 34-year-old Jesse A. Nichols.

The incident took place at about 8:28 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at a home in the 13000 block of St. Johnstown Road, Greenwood, when troopers were sent there to investigate a report about a burglary in progress.

Troopers found Nichols hiding in the garage area, Jaffe said. Nichols’ stepfather lives in the home, but Nichols himself has not lived there for three to four years.

It was later learned Nichols had entered the same property on June 6, and that several items, including a jewelry box, cuff link, and a Coleman cooler were missing. Troopers later recovered those items from Nichols’ vehicle.

Nichols is charged with second- and third-degree burglary and theft. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $1,496 cash-only bond.
