The suspect is William Rodriguez, 34, of Miami, Fla.
A cell phone owner at the Firefly Music Festival used her “Find My iPhone” app to help police track down her stolen device, leading to the arrest of 34-year-old Miami resident William Rodriguez.
Dover Police Department spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that over Friday night and Saturday morning, his department and Delaware State Police had been notified of several cell phone thefts due to pickpockets in the Firefly crowd.
One woman whose phone had been stolen helped police utilize the popular app to track the device to 34-year-old Miami resident William Rodriguez.
When arrested, Rodriguez was in possession of 27 cell phones, including the woman’s, Hoffman said.
Rodriguez is charged with three counts of theft of property under $1,500, and additional charges are pending. Police are trying to identify and contact the owners of the remaining cell devices.
Rodriguez is being held at the Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $3,000 cash bond.
