Emotions ran high as Saint Thomas More Academy in Magnolia graduated 36 seniors during ceremonies held Tuesday, June 6.

The Class of 2018 was offered $6 million in scholarships and grants, of which the students accepted $1.58 million, Principal Rachel A. Casey said.

The Most Rev. W. Francis Malooly, bishop of the Diocese of Wilmington presented diplomas, with Holy Cross parish pastor Father James S. Lentini delivering the benediction.

Malooly, whose diocese oversees eight Catholic schools in Delaware and Maryland, said he was quite proud of STMA’s graduating class.

“They all did very well,” he said. “I’m very pleased.”

“This is clearly an outstanding class, and you can tell by the quality of the colleges to which they’ve been accepted,” Malooly continued.
