The 12th Annual Townsend Fair and Parade will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Town Park at 0 Edgar Road, Townsend.

The park is located within the Townsend Village 1 housing development.

People can still register to be part of the Townsend Fair’s parade until Friday, Sept. 15, by either calling town hall at 302-378-8082 or emailing Councilwoman Lorraine Gorman at

There will be pet contests. There’s a pet contest in the parade and one at the park during the fair.

People can enter their pets into the contests by calling Town Hall or emailing Gorman. The pets don’t have to be limited to cats and dogs. Registration is accepted on the day of the fair or earlier.

The fair begins with a parade from the Townsend Fire Station on Main Street at 10 a.m. and proceeds down Main Street to the town park where the fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with bounce houses, carnival games, contests, face painting, and food.

About 100 vendors will be set up in the park
