The Bicycle Friendly Delaware Act passed its final legislative hurdle in the waning minutes of the 2016 session of the Delaware State Senate.
With a vote of 20-1 in the Senate, the BFDA needs Gov. John Carney's signature to become law. Ironically, the only dissenting vote came from Sen. Greg Lavelle, who had called the bill "long overdue," during the very limited floor discussion; his vote was about a procedural issue unrelated to the BFDA.
The bill will make roads safer for bicyclists and motorists, more convenient for bicyclists and motorists and reduce law enforcement requirements regarding misunderstood or unnecessary laws.
