Denzel Brown is charged with cruelty to animals and other criminal counts
Troopers with the Delaware State Police have arrested Denzel L. Brown after he allegedly stabbed two dogs inside his house.
Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said around 10:30 a.m. June 21 troopers were called to a home in the 7000 block of North Union Church Road for a domestic issue between Brown, 27, and his 34-year-old girlfriend.
After troopers settled the verbal dispute between the two, the woman locked her two adult pit bulls inside separate crates in the house and then left.
Brown, who also lives at the house, was waiting outside for a ride but went inside to get some personal belongings. He suddenly emerged saying he had stabbed the animals with a knife belonging to the woman after claiming the dogs were fighting.
Delaware Animal Control Officers were contacted and responded to the scene to take possession of the two dead dogs.
Brown is charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of cruelty to animals, and criminal mischief.
He has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $16,100 cash bond.
