The incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 13, when officers from the Milford Police Department responded to Cedar Beach Road, or Route 36, just east of Rehoboth Boulevard, to a report of a disabled vehicle. Upon arrival, the officers learned that the vehicle in question had been involved in a collision and that the operator had fled. While on the scene, officers were approached by a person who said the driver of the disabled vehicle had just tried to steal their car. 19-year-old Kala Fluitt, of Ellendale, was arrested shortly thereafter.

Fluitt was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, reckless endangering, third degree criminal trespassing, inattentive driving, failure to have registration in possession, and possession of marijuana. She was arraigned and released on $3,001 unsecured bail, pending a court date.
