Fort Christina Park will open July 19 -- 11:45 a.m. ribbon cutting.
Visitors can enter the park at 10:30 a.m., and the ribbon cutting will be held at 11:45 a.m. Speakers will include Gov. Jack Markell and Sen. Tom Carper among others.
Fort Christina marks the location of the Kalmar Nyckel’s arrival on the Christina River in 1638, The ship brought the first Swedish settlers to what is now present day Wilmington. The address is 1110 E. 7th St., Wilmington.
The park was reopened throgh a joint partnership between the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs, the First State National Historical Park Service and the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation.
