Petite Sweets, a new Project Pop-up business, celebrated its grand opening in Milford on Dec. 9 with an event that was hosted by the Delaware Economic Development Office and Downtown Milford Inc.

Petite Sweets, 22 South Walnut Street, is owned by Albert Sierra and Keila Montalvo. The bakery focuses exclusively on cake pops  and specializes in developing unique and delicious cake flavors, reminiscent of childhood memories.

“We are excited to welcome Petite Sweets to downtown,” said Lee Nelson, executive director of DMI. “They’re already getting involved with the community and are an asset to the town.”

Downtown Delaware, a DEDO program, launched Project Pop-up four years ago. Select downtown areas offer commercial space that is rent-free for three months. Diane Laird, DEDO program coordinator, said the rent-free incentive offered by the property owners gives the business owners a running start to successful long-term leases.
