Hans Medlarz will be the new Sussex County engineer.
Medlarz is a certified professional engineer with 30 years of experience.
He has worked in government and private consulting in Delaware. His past roles have included director of public works for Kent County and partner in the engineering firm Davis, Bowen and Friedel.
Medlarz holds a Master of Science degree in engineering from Georgia Tech. He is the immediate past president of the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers and is the current vice chairman of the Delaware Water Infrastructure Advisory Council.
The role of county engineer oversees a staff of nearly 150 people in nine divisions responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining county projects.
