Milford Housing Development Corporation and the city of Dover signed a grant agreement Oct. 22 for MHDC to administer a portion of the city’s Community Development Block Grant Program.

MHDC was awarded funds to provide homeownership rehabilitation and emergency home repairs to eligible homeowners who reside within city limits. MHDC began administering the City of Dover Homeowner Rehabilitation Program in 2013. MHDC, under this grant agreement, will administer the program for the next five years.

Funds in the amount of $53,000 have been awarded to provide rehabilitation for three homes within city limits for the current year. All three homes have been identified; rehabilitation work will begin on the first home Dec. 16 and is expected to be complete within 30 days. MHDC is maintaining a waiting list for qualified residents.

MHDC also will continue a partnership between its home repair project and the city of Dover with a sub-recipient grant of about $35,000. The grant is used to complete repairs that present an immediate threat to the health or safety of qualified Dover homeowners.
