Wendy Lewis, a 47-year-old from Milford, rear-ended a bus from the Milford School District this morning, said Sgt. Richard Bratz, spokesman for the Delaware State Police.
There were no serious injuries reported following the crash that took place at around 6:45 a.m., Bratz added.
Lewis was driving a 2005 Chevy Tahoe southbound on Old Shawnee Road in the area of Brook Lane directly behind the school bus.
Chelsea Carr, a 27-year-old from Milford, was driving a 2008 IC Corp bus and was stopping to pick up students at the next bus stop. As the buses’ lights were transitioning from yellow to red, Lewis failed to stop and struck the rear of the bus with her front bumper, Bratz said.
Lewis was transported to Milford Memorial Hospital by EMS where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. She is charged with inattentive driving and no seatbelt.
Carr and a 16-year-old student who was on the bus were uninjured in the collision.
