The illustrious DJ Afrika Bambaata will headline at the 2015 Peoples Festival 4Peace and Tribute to Bob Marley in Wilmington on Saturday.

Bambaata is a noted DJ who released a number of tracks in the 1980s that had a big impact on hip-hop culture.

People’s Festival is an all-day affair for the entire family offering live music with notable artists, multiple food options and a variety of vendors. Other performers to be featured at the festival are Romain Virgo, The Itals, Jah 9, Spokey Speaky, Alika and the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble.

The festival was founded in 1994 by Ibis and Genny Pitts at the request of Marley’s mother, Cedella Marley Booker, who lived in Wilmington, as did Bob Marley. Since its inception, People’s Festival has attracted close to 100,000 people to Wilmington in honor of the late and legendary singer-songwriter Bob Marley. A couple thousand are expected to turnout Saturday.

People’s Festival will be held at Tubman-Garret Riverfront Park, Rosa Parks Drive, in Wilmington from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday. COST $25-$75.
