A 56-year-old Harrington man was arrested on Saturday and is facing his sixth offense driving under the influence charge.
David W. Dale, of the first block of Brown St., was stopped at 5:32 a.m. on South DuPont Hwy. for a traffic violation, according to Lt. Earl K. Brode, spokesman for the Harrington Police Department.
While speaking with Dale, officers detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Police then administered field sobriety tests and after Dale completed them, he was taken to the Harrington Police Department for processing, Brode said.
Drug paraphernalia was also found in Dale’s vehicle following a search. A computer check revealed Dale had five previous driving under the influence convictions dating back to 1987, said Brode.
Dale is charged with 6th offense driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in default of $7,001 secured bond.
