A 37-year-old Newark man was arrested on Sunday and charged with theft after allegedly stealing a wallet at a hotel in Harrington.
Mohsin Ali, of the 300 block of Barley Dr., was arrested after officers reviewed surveillance video from the hotel, Lt. Earl K. Brode, spokesman for the Harrington Police Dept., said.
While on patrol on Sunday police were called to the Holiday Inn Express in the 17000 block of South DuPont Hwy. for a report of a theft, Brode said.
When police arrived they contacted the victim who told police that his wallet fell out of his clothing and someone stole it. Officers reviewed a video and saw the victim drop his wallet outside of the building, Brode said.
Police then saw the suspect, later identified as Ali, pick up the wallet and go to his room. Police were able to track him to his room on the third floor, where they took him into custody and recovered the wallet, said Brode.
Ali is charged with theft under $1,500 and released pending a future court appearance.
