Welington Cesar Da Silva, 32, of Brazil, is facing possible deportation and Luci Wanda Lucas Da Silva, 34, of Fruitland, Md., is facing traffic charges after a traffic stop in Milford revealed more than $31,000 in suspected drug money.

Two travelers in Milford were arrested and facing charges after a traffic stop uncovered more than $31,000 of suspected drug money.

Luci Wanda Lucas Da Silva, 34, of Fruitland, Md., was operating a vehicle on Del. Route 1 when Milford police conducting a specialized traffic enforcement duty stopped her for a traffic violation on June 13, according to Milford Police Department spokesman Detective Dwight Young.

Welington Cesar Da Silva, 32, of Brazil, who police said was residing in Salisbury, Md., was a passenger in the vehicle.

During the traffic stop, officers conducted a vehicle search that resulted in seizure of more than $31,000. An examination of the money by the Milford Police K-9 Division unveiled the presence of drug residue, Young said.

The Milford Police Department coordinated with Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement and discovered that Welington Cesar Da Silva had been previously deported from the United States and was not permitted entry into the county.

Welington Cesar Da Silva was turned over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service to face deportation and possible charges.

Luci Wanda Lucas Da Silva was released with traffic charges.

Young said the investigation is on-going.
