Starship’s 1985 hit “We Built This City” will be playing at full-blast in the tender hearts of Delaware Children’s Museum visitors as they put their hands to good use in the “DCM Summer Block Party.”

Building up to something
DCM Summer Block Party — a daily program which runs at the DCM through Monday, July 30 — will allow kids to create their own cities, as the event offers more than 100 hands-on programs centered around engineering and science topics like: building skyscrapers, roads, parks and schools, as well as crafting from blueprints and more.

Youngsters will also have the opportunity to engineer a roller coaster for plastic balls to travel along — using giant blue building blocks. Kids will have the chance to see how high they can make their structure, how many twists and turns they can design in it, and how long it’ll take the balls to complete the ride.

A ‘Grand’ time
Another new series, “Grand Adventures,” also debuts this month. The program is designed for grandparents and grandchildren to learn how to grow food. That event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 22 and Monday, July 23.
