Student work is replacing that of more seasoned artists' during the Mispillion Art League's annual student show. The league was buzzing last Friday during the opening reception as awards were handed out and the public admired the young talents' work.


Young artists from Milford Middle School and Milford High School and students of the Mispillion Art League stole the show Friday night as the Art League opened its annual student show with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m.

High schoolers submitted work in two categories: two dimensional and 3D. Middle schoolers submitted only two-dimensional work.

Salena Carillo, a junior at Milford High School, won Best in Show for her work, “Drip.”

In the 2D high school, 3D high school, and middle school categories, winners are as follows:

2D High School

First place: Korayma Rodriguez, 12th grade Second place: Becca DeBrosse, 12th grade Third place: Colby Herd, 11th grade

3D High School

 First place: Chelsea Griffith, 12th grade  Second place: Jerry Soriano, 12th grade  Third place: Carlo Rodriguez-Reyes, 11th grade

Middle School:

First place: Kyle Barbutes, seventh grade Second place: Oscar Rosario, sixth grade Third place: Brianna Wilhelm

The show will be open through Saturday, March 17.
