To maximize this year’s fun in the sun this year, join the staff at the Indian River Life-Saving Station and explore the nature and experience the history that is right here at the beach. Programs include Crabbing 101 and Rehoboth Bay Kayak Tours to Breeches Buoy Rescue Demonstrations.
During the summer there are also several events that can make this summer special. Join us for the 31st Annual Sandcastle Contest on Saturday, July 9 at the South Inlet day Use Area to show off the best sand sculpting skills on the coast! This contest is open and free to the public; parking fees are still in effect.
On July 31 from noon-5 p.m., learn about the unique maritime heritage of the coast at our first ever Maritime Heritage Festival! Through crafts and activities, a Breeches Buoy Demonstration and performances of “Songs and Stories of Old Sailing Days” by Matthew Dodd, live the history of the coast! Join the United States Coast Guard Station Indian River, Friends of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse, the Lightship Overfalls Foundation, Zwaanendael Museum, Milton Historical Society and Sea Scouts in celebrating our maritime history!
