Police reports from the Harrington area for the week of April 29.

On April 16, Harrington police arrested Sue L. Higgins, 41, of Harrington, for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and driving with expired registration tags. Sgt. Earl Brode said patrol officers noticed her car, with outdated tags, stopped on Railroad Avenue, and approached Higgins about that, when they noticed “an odor of alcohol.” Higgins was taken into custody after a field sobriety test, and police found six grams of marijuana in her purse after the arrest, Brode said.
Higgins was issued traffic and criminal citations and released pending a future court appearance.

On April 16, Harrington police arrested Sherman N. Miller, 35, of Dover, for driving under the influence, driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of a suspended license and failure to remain in a single lane.

On April 17, Harrington police arrested Michael J. Passwaters, 24, of Harrington, for driving under the influence and operating a car without rear lights visible from at least 500 feet.

On April 18, Harrington police arrested Vincent W. Wilken, 28, of Virginia Beach, for carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Sgt. Earl Brode said, after an officer pulled over a car he was riding in. An officer on motorcycle patrol stopped a car after noticing the driver talking on a cell phone while operating his car. “After issuing the driver a summons officers were given consent to search the vehicle,” Brode said. That search led officers to discover a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun with a loaded magazine in the glove compartment. Police took both Wilken and the driver into custody, but after questioning the driver was released and Wilken charged. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

On April 23, Harrington police arrested Shawn E. Beetschen, 40, of Milford, for driving under the influence after officers noticed him allegedly spinning his tires on Route 13 and Porter Street, and then found that his vehicle’s registration had been flagged for multiple cancellations. Beetschen was taken into custody after allegedly failing a breath test, and charged with DUI, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to surrender on command and driving with fictitious or cancelled registration. He was released pending a future court date.

On April 25, Harrington police arrested Candice Comegys, 24, of Milford on a charge of offensive touching. Comegys allegedly hit a victim on April 16, and turned herself in to police nine days later. She was released on $500 unsecured bond.

On April 26, Harrington police arrested Dakota A. Baker, 18 of Harrington, for third-degree burglary, theft of services under $1,500, and theft under $1,500. Police were searching for Baker for nearly a week before he was arrested by Dover police, and taken to Justice of the Peace Court 7 for arraignment. He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of a $700 secured bond.

On April 25, Harrington police arrested Kyle Sutherland, 19, of Silver Spring, Md., for underage consumption of alcohol after a speeding stop on Route 13. Sgt. Earl Brode said Sutherland was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for speeding, and the officer who made the stop noticed “an odor of alcohol” coming from Sutherland. After a breathalyzer test, Sutherland was taken into custody and issued a criminal summons for underage consumption.
