Sophomore star Alvontae Drummond earned a slim victory for the Milford High School wrestling team on Wednesday night when he pinned Sussex Tech's Matt Bennett in the last match of the day, giving his team the points they needed to come back from a 33-30 deficit and claim a win.

The Buccaneers fell behind early for the second time this week; after letting Lake Forest take an 18-0 lead in Monday's meet, they lost the first three matches against Sussex Tech, giving the Ravens a 14-0 start.

Milford bounced back with four straight wins - pins by Brent Prouse, Quinn Abbott and Colton Barr and a forfeit claimed by Brent Wingrove. But the Ravens wouldn't stay down. They fought back to tie the meet at 24, and despite another Milford pin, this one by Evan Becker, Tech went into the last match of the night with a three-point lead.

Drummond didn't let that last long. He pushed through a neck-and-neck opening period and gained a quick advantage in the second, turning a 4-4 tie into a pin that took just 30 seconds and earned six points for Milford, which added up to a 36-33 win for the home team.

The victory takes the Buccaneers to 7-5 overall this season, guaranteeing them a winning record in Head Coach Dan Rigby's first year. Their final dual meet of the season will be at home against Indian River on Friday, Feb. 11.
