Michael R. Brewer, of Ellendale, turned himself in to the Delaware State Police for allegedly participating in a shooting near Seaford early on Feb. 22.

The Delaware State Police have arrested Michael R. Brewer, 30, of Ellendale for a shooting that occurred in Dove Estates, near Seaford, over the weekend.
Police claim Brewer was involved in an altercation in Seaford at about 2 a.m. on Feb. 22, in the parking lot of the Dug Out Bar in Seaford. One bystander, who would later become the victim of the shooting, broke up the fight and proceeded to go home.

About an hour later, a car pulled into the victim’s driveway, and its occupants – at least three – loudly demanded for the person who ended the fight to come outside. When there was no answer, one person, believed to be Brewer, went to the back of the house, tried to break in, and finally fired five shots into the home, the last of which struck the victim.

During the investigation, detectives learned from some of the occupants where were inside the home when the shooting occurred that Brewer was one of the attackers. Witnesses informed police that they knew Brewer and saw him arrive at the home in his car, a white Acura. They saw him exit the vehicle without a shirt on and walk around the back of the home.
According to police reports, witnesses say they saw Brewer at the rear door of the home yelling that he wanted the guy who was responsible for the fight that occurred earlier that evening to come outside.  Shortly afterward shots were fired through the rear door into the home.
Brewer turned himself in to State Police Troop 4 on Feb. 23. He was arrested and charged for first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, two counts of first-degree reckless endangering and three counts of criminal mischief.
