After two straight losses, the Milford High School varsity basketball team got back on track Tuesday night with a 75-61 over Lake Forest. The Bucs fell behind early, but came back with a blistering third quarter to earn their first win in a week.

The win was a team effort on offense, as four of five starters - DJ Cephas, Marques Jones, Chris Long and Colby Shorts - all scored 15 or more points for the Bucs. The game didn’t start well for Milford — after the first quarter, they found themselves in a 20-11 hole and facing the possibility of a third straight loss. But they closed the gap going into halftime and then blew the Spartans out of the water in the third quarter, almost doubling their score with a 26-point performance while stifling defense held Lake Forest to 11 points.

Midway through the fourth quarter with the game no longer in doubt, the Bucs’ bench players got into the act too, and expanded the lead to hold off any chance of a Spartan comeback.
