The Milford High School varsity basketball team took a lead into halftime against the 7-2 Indian River squad, but couldn't close the deal, falling 53-42 against a barrage of second-half points.
The Bucs held a two-point lead after the first quarter and extended it to seven in the second, but a late rally by the Lady Indians cut Milford's advantage to a single point going into the half. A three-pointer from Ashley Young gave the Bucs some breathing room to start the third quarter, but the Indians still took a 37-35 lead by the time it was over.
Milford's problems got worse when foul trouble struck. Aaliyah Davis, coming off a 28-point night against Laurel, racked up four fouls midway through the third quarter and didn't play again until the fourth, and at one point Ashley Young was the only Buc on the court who didn't have four fouls to her name. Davis and Morgan Anton both ended up fouling out in the fourth quarter. The Bucs ended up scoring just seven points in the fourth, falling 53-42.
Milford is now 2-8, and will host Woodbridge on Tuesday night.
