Sussex Tech rode the wave of big plays Friday night, downing Milford 30-13 in their season opener.
Andrell Fulton led the way on offensive for the Ravens, breaking off two long scores against the Buccaneers defense. Meanwhile, on the defensive end, Tech kept the Bucs under wraps.
Fulton kicked off the scoring late in the first quarter, busting out with a 31-yard rushing score to put the Ravens ahead 7-0.
Tech would add to their lead a possession later when Rodney Norsworth returned a punt 45-yards for a touchdown, giving Sussex Tech a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
Milford would get on the board, cutting the Tech lead to 14-7, early in the second quarter off an eight-yard touchdown from Rodney Robinson.
Still leading 14-7 early in the second half, Fulton found the endzone for the second time on the night, this one for 60-yards to put Sussex Tech up by two scores again.
A few minutes later, Caleb Locklear nailed a 20-yard field goal to put the Ravens up 23-7.
On Milford’s first possession of the fourth quarter, Tech’s Jordan Harper intercepted a pass, returning 39-yards for a score giving Sussex Tech a commanding 30-7 lead.
Dion Warner would add a score late for the Buccaneers, a 72-yard touchdown run, but time would run out on Milford.
Both teams will travel to Baynard Stadium next week; Tech will battle with Salesianum on Friday night, while the Buccaneers will look to turn things around Saturday night against Delaware Military Academy.
