Polytech's game today, May 17, against Charter School of Wilmington will be played at the DE Turf complex in Frederica, and the Newark Charter game against Appoquinimink will be played at Red Lion Christian Academy.
Because of a water-logged fields, the girls lacrosse state tournament games between Polytech and Charter School of Wilmington, and Newark Charter and Appoquinimink High School today, May 17, have been moved.
DIAA Executive Director Thomas Neubauer said recent rains have made the grass fields unplayable.
The No. 5 Polytech vs. No. 12 Charter School of Wilmington game will be played at the DE Turf complex main stadium field, 4000 Bay Road, Frederica, at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at the site.
The No. 7 Newark Charter vs. No. 10 Appoquinimink High School game will be played at Red Lion Academy field, 1390 Red Lion Road, Bear, at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at the site.
Here are the rest of today's scheduled first-round games:
No. 8 Padua Academy will play No. 9 St. Andrew’s at Tatnall at 4 p.m.
No. 6 Dover hosts No. 11 Tower Hill at 6 p.m.
The top four seeds, No. 1 Cape Henlopen, No. 2 St. Mark’s, No. 3 Ursuline Academy and No. 4 Archmere Academy, will host the winners of the opening round games on Saturday, May 19.
The winner of Padua and St. Andrew's will travel to Cape Henlopen Saturday at 7 p.m.
The winner of Newark Charter and Appoquinimink will play at No. 2 St. Mark's at 1 p.m.
The Dover-Tower Hill winner will play Ursuline at Serviam Field at 11 a.m.
The Polytech-Charter School of Wilmington will travel to Archmere for an 11 a.m. game.
The semifinals are on Tuesday, May 22 and the finals are on Thursday, May 24.
