This Day in Delaware History:
1694    William Penn's first wife Gulielma nee Springett died in London.

1726    Thomas Noxon, late of Jamaica, bought land south of Middletown.

1849    John M. Clayton of near New Castle resigned as US Senator to become President Zachary Taylor's US Secretary of State.

1925    Civil War cavalryman General James H. Wilson died at 87 and was buried in Wilmington's Old Swedes Church Yard. He was credited with helping capture the escaping President Jefferson Davis near Irwinville, Georgia in May 1865.
