Paul H. Legates, of Harrington, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 83.
Mr. Legates was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during World War II, where he was wounded during battle and awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, he worked as a lineman for the City of Milford. He then went to work at the Dover Air Force Base as a lineman and retiring as superintendent of the packing and crating division in 1985 after 27 years. He was a member of the Greenwood VFW Post 7478, the American Legion C.K.R.T. Post 7 in Harrington, the D.A.V., the Harrington Moose Lodge 534, was a life member of the Harrington Fire Co. and was a member of both the morning and afternoon coffee club at Arby’s in Harrington.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Legates.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Henrietta (Harris) Legates, two sons and daughters-in-law Bobby and Darlene Legates and Doug and Donna Legates, all of Harrington, and two grandsons Lance Brown and Robert Cubbage.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at the McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington.
