Charles F. Dubsky a retired Regular Army Colonel, died on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 88.

Col. Dubsky was born in Highland Falls, N.Y. the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dubsky.

He graduated from the U. S. Military Academy, West Point, New York in 1945, the University of Virginia in 1956 with a MA in Foreign Affairs, the National War College in 1963 for Strategies in U.S. National Security Policies, the Infantry Advanced Course Command and General Staff College, and the Armed Forces Staff College. His service included, inter alia, three enlisted years, World War II, Korea and South Vietnam in the 11th and 82nd Airborne Divisions and the 40th Infantry Division. Assignments were as armored and infantry unit commanders, Office of Chief of Staff Operations and Departments of Army and Defense joint staffs. Col. Dubsky retired in 1971 after 32 years of military service. During his tenure in the military, he proudly received the following awards: the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Senior Parachute Badge, Glider Badge and the World War II, Korean and Vietnam War Ribbons. After retiring from the military, Colonel Dubsky became the Management Chief of Arlington County, Va., Department of Human Resources for 10 years, retiring in 1982.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Bell Dubsky; three sons, Charles M. Dubsky of Milford, Robert L. Dubsky of Vero Beach, Fla. and John P. Dubsky of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Lillian H. Clark of Centennial, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Dashnau of Snowville, N.H.

Burial with military honors will be private at the convenience of the family in the United States Military Academy Cemetery, West Point, N.Y. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
