Robert C. “Bob” Waishes of Milford, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at home. He was 58.
Bob was born Oct. 27, 1950, the son of the late Edward A. and Janette (Potter) Waishes.
He retired as a lieutenant after 34 years with the Department of Correction. He was a member of Aldersgate Wesleyan Church in Milford where he was also the Sunday school superintendent. He was very musically inclined and could play many instruments, his favorite being the saxophone and he loved singing at his church. He was a very loving father and grandfather, whose family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed many hobbies with his family including fishing, the beaches, the desert in California, collecting trains and coins with his grandsons.
He was a member of the United States Coast Guard, having served on Shetland Islands, Scotland, where he met and married the mother of his two daughters. He also served at the Indian River Coast Guard Station.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward H. Waishes, and G. Buddy Schuler, and a sister, Coralie W. Greenly.
He is survived by his children Lisa Waishes-Cornwell and her husband Ben, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Bobbi L. Waishes and their mother Margaret Morrison, both of Milford; four grandsons, Kayden, Keanyn, Kye and Cooper; his sister and brother-in-law Ginger and Dave Nichols, of Louisville, Ky., and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends from around the world.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Lofland Funeral Home, Milford. Burial was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriots Way, Millsboro.
