Florence B. Jackson, of Milford, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Milford Memorial Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Elmer and Grace (Bratton) Austin.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Milford Church of God. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and she doted over them every chance she could get.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by  two brothers Norman Elwood Austin and Elmer Austin; a sister, Priscilla Austin; and a son-in-law, Phillip Sharp, Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roland L. “Junior” Jackson; one son Roland L. Jackson, Jr. and his wife Alice, of Milford; two daughters, Florence G. “Flossie” Sharp and Sandra Brooks, both of Milford; five grandchildren: Phillip Sharp, Jr, Darlene Austin, Rhonda Jester, Ryan Brooks and Kyle Brooks; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Deputy, of Houston, Hilda Hills, of Dover and Violet Jones, of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Joseph Austin, of Dover; and two sisters-in-law Annie Lee Greulich and Fannie Mae Wilkins, both of Milford.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Lofland Funeral Home, Milford,. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Rt. 113, Milford.
