Carol Bowman, 67, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood where she had been a resident for the past year and a half.

Carol was born in Orwigsburg, Pa. on June 23, 1942 to the late Clarence and Ethel “Peg” (Kunkle) Kimmel. She graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1959.

For those who knew her she was a very strong and hard working woman, working side by side with her husband on the farm, raising beef cows and boxer puppies. She took care of the books, driving and doing paperwork for the family business Bowman Bus Service, Bowman Tours and Kent and Sussex Tours.

She drove a school bus for 30 years, drove a motor coach for 10 years and later worked in the cafeteria at Milford Sr. High School.

She loved living on the family farm with all the animals and many pets. Especially her horse Spotty and dogs Sam and Terri. She enjoyed riding and caring for the horses, going snowmobiling, riding around the family farm on her 4-wheeler, going camping, and riding her motorcycle with the Wheels of Glory Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

She was the greatest mother. With tremendous love and devotion for her husband, sons, and grandchildren. Always knowing when we needed a hug or someone to talk to. She was known for telling her children stories when they were younger and continued doing so with her grandchildren. She was never too busy for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Bowman in 2003.
She is survived by two sons James Bowman and his wife Wendy of Milford and Brian Bowman of Florida; a step-daughter Diana Vincent of Houston; four grandchildren Joshua Bowman, Cody Bowman, Staci Anderson and Tina Vincent; a sister and her husband, Ruth Ann and Jim Reichert of West Chester, Pa.;  two nephews and one niece Jeff Reichert, David Reichert and Sue Koeller.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Milford Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934
