Lucy S. Davis of Milford passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford surrounded by her family. She was 90.
Mrs. Davis was born on November 30, 1919 in Milford, daughter of the late Herman W. Sr. and Olivia (Mills) Sharp.
Lucy was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She took special delight in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a devoted fan when they participated in sport activities.
She loved the game of golf and entertaining her family with dinners at the holidays and also enjoyed playing cards with her bridge club.
Mrs. Davis was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford, joining on December 25, 1938. She was active in many church activities and was a member of one of the Women’s church circles.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by a brother, Herman W. Sharp Jr. and two sisters Mary Reed and Grace Clements.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold C. Davis, two sons and a daughter-in-law; Larry H. Davis and John S. and Linda Davis, all of Milford; four grandchildren L. Britt Davis, Michelle Deputy, Heather Watson and John S. Davis Jr.; and three great grandchildren Alexis Deputy, Margaux Deputy and Davis Watson.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Rogers Funeral Home, Milford, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be held in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 172, Milford, DE, 19963.
