Delaware Does More campaign, a winter-long collaboration, initiated by United Way of Delaware and the Food Bank of Delaware, to raise incremental resources to address an anticipated statewide spike in demand for assistance with food, shelter, and utilities is announcing their goals.
Increasing layoffs and credit and financial crises are causing thousands of formerly middle-class Delawareans to struggle to pay for food, utilities, and housing. Health and human service agencies are unable to meet the increased level of need, and are being forced to turn people away in record numbers.
Delaware Does More is a statewide collaboration, initiated by United Way of Delaware (UWD) and the Food Bank of Delaware (FBD), of local health and human service agencies, businesses, community and government leaders, and faith-based organizations. Its goal is to help Delawareans affected by this financial crisis get through the winter. These efforts are in addition to the annual donations these organizations are currently seeking.
On Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Food Bank of Delaware’s Milford location, the intentions, goals and framework of the Delaware Does More campaign will be announced.
