Fatal school bus crash on Route 1

A Milford School District bus carrying students home from the Evelyn Morris Early Childhood Center struck this SUV on Route 1 Monday afternoon. According to eyewitness reports, the bus was trying to turn into the southbound lanes of Route 1 when it struck the SUV, which was traveling south at speed.

An accident involving a Milford School District bus killed a Pennsylvania woman Monday afternoon.

According to police, a school bus owned by D&N Bus Service and driven by Krystal A. Bunting, 24, of Milford, carrying children home from Evelyn Morris Early Childhood Center, was crossing the southbound lanes of Route 1 at about 12:18 p.m. when it collided with a 1999 Isuzu SUV traveling southbound at speed. The impact ripped the driver's side door off the SUV and threw at least one of its occupants into the roadway.

According to police, the driver, Susan Galloway, 50, of Elverson, Pa., died shortly after she was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to Milford School District Director of Operations Heinz Retzlaf, only two children were on the bus when the accident occurred.According to police reports, they were treated for minor injuries at the crash scene and then released to district officials, who notified their parents and arranged for transportation home.
