Fugitive apprehended in Harrington

On Oct. 31, the Harrington Police Department charged April M. Caldwell, 27, of Harrington, with criminal mischief and third degree criminal trespassing.

On Oct. 1, officers responded to Florida Boulevard in reference to a trespass in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned that the accused allegedly entered onto the property and damaged a door. Upon apprehension, officers learned that the accused was also a fugitive from justice. Officers learned that she was wanted by Justice of the Peace 7 for failing to appear for driving on a suspended license, driving under the influence, and also wanted by Justice of the Peace 6 for failing to appear for a second charge of driving on a suspended license, and for not having proof of insurance.

Caldwell was processed at HPD, arraigned at Justice of the Peace 7, and released on a $1,325 unsecured bond.



Juveniles arrested on Halloween

The Harrington Police charged three Harrington juveniles ages 16 and 17 years old with third degree criminal trespassing and third degree conspiracy on Oct. 31.

Through an investigation, officers learned that a text message was sent out that was trying to recruit help to damage property in Harrington with eggs and shaving cream.

Officers were able to set-up surveillance at the W. T. Chipman Junior High, and as the juveniles were observed in the area, police intercepted.

Officers seized the shaving cream and the juveniles were taken into custody.

Officers transported the accused to HPD for processing. All were issued criminal summons, and released to their parents pending a future hearing at Kent County Family Court. 



Trains vandalized

On Nov. 2, the Harrington Police Department investigated the theft of air horns from four trains south of Clark Street. The unknown suspect(s), between Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 8:30 a.m., removed the air horns and fled undetected.

The police department is asking anyone with suspect information to call the Harrington Police Department at 398-4493, the Crime Tip cell phone at 233-1493 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333.



Fugitive arrested after impersonation attempt

Reese D. Heesh 32, of Camden was charged with criminal impersonation by the Harrington Police Department on Nov. 3.

The accused was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a registration violation.

Officers contacted the accused at which time he gave a false name to avoid being arrested as a fugitive from justice. Officers learned that Heesh was wanted by Kent County Superior Court for failing to appear for disregarding a police officer, terroristic threatening; Kent County Court of Common Pleas for failing to appear for traffic charges and Sussex County Court of Common Pleas for failing to pay for unauthorized use of motor vehicle.

The accused was processed at HPD, arraigned at Justice of the Peace 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $14,000 cash bond pending future hearings.
