Two killed in Saturday car accidents
Thomas Webb, 35, and Amber Nell, 18, both of Milford, were killed Saturday in separate car accidents.
According to the Delaware State Police, Nell was driving a 1997 Dodge Neon on Henry Cowgill Road, in Woodside at about 2 a.m. For unknown reasons, the car went off the roadway and into a ditch, where it rolled several times. Nell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died from the injuries she sustained. The crash is still under investigation, and no information on the cause has been released.
Webb was killed at approximately midnight, when, according to police reports, his Chevrolet pickup drifted over the centerline of South Bowers Road and struck another truck, driven by Cory Calhoun, 18, of Milford. Webb, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Calhoun was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
According to police, Calhoun was found to have been drinking before the crash, and was citied for driving under the influence and underage consumption of alcohol. Police do not yet know if alcohol was a factor in Webb’s actions.
