Assault at Riverwalk Bridge
On Wednesday Sept. 24, 2008, at approx. 8:23 p.m., the Milford Police responded to a residence located on Mill St. after receiving a report of an assault that had just occurred. Police made contact with the 14-year old and 17-year old male victims.
Police were ultimately able to identify the juvenile male suspects in the assault by a school yearbook. Police responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Bridgeham Ave. and took two juvenile male 17-year olds and a 16-year old juvenile male into custody in connection with the incident.
The three juveniles had approached the 14-year old and 17-year old victims on Mill St. in the area of the Riverwalk Bridge. The three then assaulted the 17-year old victim knocking him to the ground and pushed the 14-year old into a nearby light pole causing him to fall to the ground. After the 14-year old was lying on the ground, the three juveniles used his skateboard to strike him several times. The three juveniles then fled on foot with the skateboard. The 17-year old male victim was treated at Milford Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and later released. The 14-year old male victim did not require any medical treatment at the time of the incident. A
All three of the juvenile males were charged with one count each of second degree robbery, second degree felony conspiracy, third degree assault and offensive touching. All three juveniles were arraigned through JP7 and were released into the custody of their parents on $9,500.00 unsecured bond.
Bomb threat suspect arrested
The Milford Police arrested and charged a 32 year old Ellendale woman on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 stemming from an incident that occurred at Wal-Mart Department Store on Monday, Aug. 18, 2008 at approx. 12:53 p.m.
Bette J. Hopkins was charged with one count of felony terroristic threatening and with making a false statement to evacuate a public building.
Hopkins contacted Wal-Mart from a cellular phone and stated that 2 bombs were in the building. Hopkins was an employee of Wal-Mart at the time this incident occurred.
Hopkins was arraigned through JP2 and was released after posting bond.
