Kamau Graves, 31, was taken into custody Nov. 2 in connection with an Oct. 2 rape incident

Milford police have filed rape charges against a Dover man after his arrest by the US Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force.

Kamau Graves, 31, was taken into custody Nov. 2 with the assistance of Dover police, Milford PD spokesman Det. Timothy Maloney said.

The case began Oct. 2 when Milford officers were sent to the 800 block of SE Fourth Street to investigate a sexual assault allegation. The victim said a suspect, later identified as Graves, used a knife during the assault and then fled.

Based on this information, police obtained an arrest warrant for Graves. He was found at a home in the 200 block of Horton Street, Dover.

Graves is charged with three counts of first-degree rape and single counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

In addition to being issued a no-contact order with the victim, Graves was ordered held by the Department of Correction in default of a $207,000 cash-only bail pending a preliminary hearing in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
