The 28th annual Oktoberfest is set for Sept 28-29 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. Sept 28 with live music from The Funsters, along with the second annual Oktoberfest 5K Run/Walk at 6 p.m. and a Healthy Kids Run for kids 10 and younger starting at 5:55 p.m. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. The races begin on School Place, in front of the church. Registration is $20 until Sept. 15 and $25 after and on event day. For the adult participants, free beer will be available at the end of the race. Sign up at trisportsevents.com.
The Oktoberfest international food court will serve traditional German entrees along with Italian, Spanish and Polish dishes, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, Polish ice and homemade baked desserts. A beer booth will be available for adults.
Festivities will begin again at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29 with live entertainment, arts and crafts booths, helicopter and fire truck rides, inflatables for kids and a dessert booth. Yard games, cornhole, jumbo Jenga and ladder ball are open to those ages 16 and older. Until 4 p.m., there will be face painting and a petting zoo for children. All kids’ and adult games are free. Live entertainment will include German Enzian Dancers, the McAleer School of Irish Dancing, Joe Kroboth and the Glass Onion Band. There will also be a $1,000 prize raffle Sept. 29.
