The Department of Transportation announced that a pavement reconstruction project will require the daytime closure of North First Street between Greenwood Road and Market Street, Greenwood, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Aug. 13-15.

There will be a week in which no work will occur due to the curing process of the roadway.

After the full depth reclamation process is finished, the contractor will pave from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 27-29.

The reconstruction project, which is a full depth reclamation process, will rebuild worn out asphalt pavement by recycling the existing roadway. The old asphalt and base materials are pulverized, mixed with cement and water and compacted to produce a strong durable base for either an asphalt or concrete surface. Full depth reclamation is an environmental friendly process.

Detour signage will be posted.
